I don’t know where you live but a talking pumpkin with a phone inside it would be gone in sixty seconds round here. Even a very old phone.

even though I've just been badmouthing Denmark in another thread, in Denmark it is pretty unlikely to be gone - like less than 1% chance I would say, especially if you just do it for Halloween night which is the only one that it would be important.

"I don't know where you live, but where I live..." is typically a phrase meant to imply that the properties of "where you live" are vanishingly rare, but that's not the case with high-trust neighborhoods. In the minority, yes. Not bizarre or unheard of or restricted to the wealthy, though.

Lot of haters in this chat but I think this is delightful and I'll definitely try it! We typically sit out on our steps and greet Trick or Treaters in person; I think a talking pumpkin will be a real hit with the kids, and I am quite sure no one will steal it while we are sitting right there!

Neat idea but I think the phone would get "jacked" pretty quick. Why not use a bluetooth speaker somewhere nearby instead?

This app would work with a Bluetooth speaker that has a mic in it, right?

I love and you had me till "gemini key". also. the webside wants web browser persistent access permission to my file system, not sure why that would be necessary.

yes, just leave a valuable electronic device in a public space during a high-traffic night and demonstrate to everyone that it is fully functional.
